OVERALL HISTORY: Emelia Automne Tanner was very much a miracle child for Mary-Alice and Stephen Tanner who had been trying to three years to have a child. The day that they found out they were pregnant their lives were changed forever. That was the day that problems with their marriage became evident. As much as the couple had wanted a child, the problems that hid beneath the surface of their marriage were brought out because of the child. Money problems got worse when Emelia was born and Stephen lost his job. By the time that Emelia was three years old everything seemed to have been repaired in their marriage.
Mary-Alice had once been a dancer and she wanted the same joy that dance brought to her in her life to be shared with her daughter. She had Emelia begin dancing when she was three years old and the happiness that Mary-Alice gained from it was unbelievable. She loved watching her beautiful baby girl learning to dance and to watch her progression and talent develop through the many years was even more rewarding than Mary-Alice could ever imagine. Emily loved to dance and when she was seven years old she declared to her parents that she wanted to be a dancer all her life, of course this was just her being a little girl in love with dancing but it thrilled her mother.
Emelia was an only child and that affected her while she was growing up. She had always wanted a sibling and hated the feeling of being alone sometimes. She wished she could have a sister to do make up with and all those sisterly things, and she wished she had a brother to play around with but of course it never happened. Emily surrounded herself with many friends to kind of ‘replace’ the siblings she never had.
When Eme was in the tenth grade her friend Sebastian Rowyn started to catch her eye. She hadn’t really thought of him as more than just some guy in her class that she talked to until then, but for some reason she started to notice him more. Before she even realized it she was crushing and falling hard for this boy that she really didn’t know all that well. Luckily for her, Sebastian felt the same way for her, he always had. Eme was quick to tell all of her friends when they got together, she wanted to tell the whole world because for some reason she felt like this was more than the other so called relationships she’d had. Sebastian was going to be different, and she knew it from the very start.
She wanted to fall in love like her parents, or have the kind of love she believed that they had. She admired how in love her parents were, and she wanted to feel that love too. Eme thought she could find that with Sebastian and for a long time she really believed that she had. The two stayed together for two and a half years, and a lot of things happened between them in those two and a half years. Just before their one year anniversary Eme starting to bring up sex, and that maybe they would have sex. They were only juniors in high school but Eme wanted to have sex with him. She wanted to lose it to him. The only thing was that Sebastian didn’t want to have sex, not yet.
It was unusual that she was the one that was trying to pressure her boyfriend into sex rather than the other way around but that was how it happened. It wasn’t until senior prom night that they finally did it. Emelia had never felt the way she did that night before. She had never felt so strongly for Sebastian. Sex seemed like it was the best thing that ever happened to them, even if it did hurt some. But as it always does, sex came with a consequence and that consequence for Eme and Sebastian was fighting. Emelia wanted more, and Sebastian was level headed. Graduation rolled around and the reality of college really hit them.
Sebastian was going away for college while Emily was staying in Encore. They decided that it would be better to break up, and so they did. Seven months after they broke up and only about three months after Sebastian went away to college Emily came home to a for sale sign pitched in her front yard. She ran into the house and demanded to know what was going on and why her parents hadn’t told her about this. She was 18 years old; she felt she deserved to know why that damn sign was in her yard. That was the day that she was told her parents were divorcing.
It was so sudden that she couldn’t believe it. Her whole life she believed that her mother and father were so in love, and it broke her heart to learn that they stayed together for her. It broke her heart that they tried to make it work and that when she was five years old they had agreed on divorcing, but decided they had to make it work for Emelia. For thirteen years her parents had practically pretended to be in love and Emelia had never felt more betrayed. She found out that her parents had both been seeing other people during that time and that her mother was moving in with her boyfriend whom she had been with for three years now and her father had a girlfriend.
After her parents divorce Emily moved in her mother and her boyfriend’s house, she didn’t ever forgive her parents fully for what they did, but she didn’t hate them. Now Emily is in her third year of college and saving up money to move out as soon as she can.
